Motorists feeling the hard pinch of penury at the pumps have a new ally to call on. Last Friday the UK-based motoring website www.keepmoving.co.uk launched a new “fuel saver” tool. This helps consumers to find the cheapest petrol by listing the current pump prices for every road in the country. The free service can also show you how much you’ll be saving by comparing the cheapest to the most expensive price on any given route. It makes an interesting alternative to www.petrolprices.com.

INDIE KID

Music lovers eager to expand their horizons should check out www.stumbleaudio.com. This new website lets you listen for free to 2m tracks by 120,000 independent artists. The idea isn’t to revisit your favourite musical gems but rather to stumble upon up-and-coming artists that may well suit your taste. Genres range from avant-garde to urban, and if you give each track a thumbs-up (or a thumbs-down), the site suggests music that may be more up your strada.

Could the old Batman toys in your garage be worth something? There are few ways to get a better guide to the value of that vintage Batmobile than scavenging on eBay to see what items tend to fetch. Remembering multiple log-ins for websites is a real pain, but MySpace announced last week that it has signed up to the universal password service OpenID. This means you will able to use the password from a Blogger, Flickr or Yahoo! account to log into MySpace – but not, for now at least, the other way round.
