It must be love – I hate all his favourite things
Romance is not dead – it’s just evolving into something more cynical. Weneither.com, a site that promises to help you to “meet people you like through things you don’t”, works on the principle that common dislikes bind people faster than shared loves.
Quickie wiki guide
Move over Wikipedia, here comes Wookiepeedia, the user-written online encyclopaedia for all things Star Wars and the latest indicator of the rude health of fanaticism on the web.
Science fiction fans may also want to check out Scifipedia, while Christians are directed to Wikible, the biblical wiki. Rightwingers, meanwhile, will find plenty of family-friendly, conviction-bolstering fodder at the brilliantly and unashamedly partisan Conservapedia – the “conservative encyclopaedia you can trust”.
Lovers of the arcane are well served, too – witness inmatelaw.org, the wiki for habeas corpus.

Information footpath
The web may be the richest source of news ever created but, according to the Pew Research Centre, more than a decade after the internet went mainstream Americans “are less able to correctly answer questions about current events than they were in 1989”.
So does the web make people less intelligent? Google does not deliver a definitive answer but a report on Wired.com says: “Citizens who call the internet their primary news source know slightly less than fans of TV and radio news.”
Cash bid
Police are trying to find out who owns €65,400 (£44,000) sent to a boy of 16 who bought a games console for £95 on eBay. The cash arrived in a box at Aylsham, Norfolk, with the PlayStation 2, which was minus two games, bbc.co.uk reported. EBay said: “It’s a great place to pick up a bargain . . .”

I, for one, like the idea of WeNeither.com. It may not appeal to hopeless romantics or, as the case may be, cynical anti-cynicists, but for those of us who embrace a pragmatic approach to love, WeNeither has something to offer. I really hope it does well!
