Now in its third year, Sony Ericsson’s World View 2008 is one of the biggest mobile cameraphone competitions in the world. More than 70,000 entries were received from around the world in 2007 and the 2008 competition is expected to be even bigger.

Sony Ericsson’s World View unites the global cameraphone community through its international search for the best cameraphone photographers of the year. People from all over the world are invited to enter their photos via the interactive website between 26th September and 31st October 2008.

The Sony Ericsson UK launch of World View has The Times Online as their official UK media partner.

Three prizes are on offer in the UK - one global Expert’s Choice winner will be chosen alongside a global People’s Choice winner, each of whom will win a trip of a lifetime, while The Times Online will be choosing The Times Picture Editor's Choice winner. The People’s Choice winner is calculated by considering the number of votes a submitted photo receives, combined with the number of times the photo is viewed. The three photos with the highest number of People’s Choice votes from each country will then go through to the final round of the judging, with the winner being awarded the global Expert’s Choice prize.

The global Expert’s Choice winner will receive a trip of a lifetime to one of five destinations worth approximately £10,000/12,500 EUR. The global People’s Choice winner will receive a trip of a lifetime to one of five destinations worth approximately £5,000/6,250 EUR.

Each week The Times Picture Editor will select one winner from the UK entries to the Sony Ericsson World View 2008 competition who will each receive a C902 Cyber-Shot™ phone. One overall winner will be selected from the UK entrants at the end of the competition who will win £2,500 towards a trip of a lifetime and a day’s experience shadowing a Times photographer.
