The sport involved is roughly American football. Your team consists of nine players of a race of your choice: humans, orcs, barbarians or the undead are among the options. The rules are, well, absent. Referees are corrupt, full-scale brawls occur as a habit and the general idea is to maim your way to victory. As satisfying as this can be, the heart of this game is in the preparation. Train your team by whatever means necessary — invoke magic or supply drugs — so that you can climb the league. The huge number of options available takes time to get used to, but once mastered you can then challenge other players online.

All this action is complemented by superb graphics and effects that really put across the bone-crunching pain of the competitors. Digital Jesters’ game shows that with chaos and immorality you can still have great sporting fun — just don’t tell the FA.
