Hurl the pedal to the metal next time you’re stuck on a bus in traffic, with the handheld outing of Need for Speed Pro Street. One-off races are delivered via the Quick Play option, though the extensive Career mode challenges players to go the distance on all of the game’s 16 or so courses.

The cars handle well most of the time, while timely taps on the “O” button unlock Driver Intuition – the game’s short-term boost system. This uses overlaid lines on the road to indicate the best route for a player to follow.

The other clutch of options, including extensive customisation choices, promises to boost the game’s shelf life, too. The damage system may be a little different from the bigger console outing of NFS Pro Street but it is just as convincing. Multiplayer choices allow up to three others to race simultaneously, either wirelessly between PSPs or via the internet.
