The Black Angels: Directions to See a Ghost
Named after a Velvet Underground song, the Black Angels offer a second album that emphasises their reductive style, even down to the two-colour op-art sleeve. Their relentless psychedelic rock, mystic and simplistic in the best Texan tradition, is oddly seductive on long, dumb jams such as You on the Run and 18 Years. Who needs three chords anyway?
