Dustin is voted a Eurovision turkey

Ireland's Dustin The Turkey

BELGRADE Dustin the Turkey, the controversial Irish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest , has been knocked out of the competition in the first stage.

The performance of Irelande Douze Pointe by the glove puppet, which first appeared on children’s television in 1990, was booed by some members of the audience in the Belgrade Arena in Serbia, where this year’s contest is being held.

The electronic song was a parody on the Eurovision contest, which is often accused of selecting a winner for political reasons rather that artistic quality. Dana Rosemary Scallon, who won the contest for Ireland in 1970, said: “The poor turkey was stuffed but I did say, ‘They are not going to understand our humour, they are not going to understand our Dustin’ – and they didn’t.” (AFP)

surely watching our country do something with another that isnt blowing them up should be a good thing.
